RAQUEL SALAZAR is a Chilean-American budding cinematographer with strong roots in documentary and journalism.
In 2014 she moved to New York City and worked as assistant director for award-winning Polish non-fiction filmmaker Piotr Stasik on his film 21xNYC — which was nominated for the prestigious European Film Award 2016.
Soon after, she became a staff producer and videographer at BRIC TV; creating short documentaries about youth, identity, immigration and the concept of home for their social justice program #Bheard. Her documentaries were nominated for six NY Emmys® and many journalistic accolades along the way.
In 2017, she landed her first cinematography opportunity on a feature documentary with support from Chicken & Eggs Pictures as a participant in their (Egg)celerator Lab and later filmed Onder Druk (At All Costs) a medium length television documentary for VPRO — Europe's leading public broadcasting production company.
Her work has broadcasted on U.S. and European public television and screened at the 10th Bushwick Film Festival and the 39th Netherlands Film Festival.
Currently, she is studying a Masters in Director of Photography at ESCAC (Escola Superior de Cinema i Audiovisuals de Catalunya) University of Barcelona.
